Ron Campbell describes this piece of art, "In early 1968, while animating on the “Yellow Submarine” feature film, I was also storyboarding episodes of the first season of Scooby Doo. Later in the mid seventies, my studio produced the animation for some episodes. This piece is like an animator’s model sheet, a line-up of the main characters of the show. The original designs for the show were done by the brilliant artist Iwoa Takamoto, Hanna Barbera’s primary character designer. You’ll notice I included the Mystery Machine and tried here to suggest the creepy side of the show, haunted mansion, full moon, bats in the belfry--- and of course the necessary bad guy to round out the beloved scary bits that everybody now remembers with a smile."
